We're on the West Coast this month, chatting with Arsenal Comics owner Timmy Heague about selling a real-deal Action Comics #1.

Timmy Heague Arsenal Comics Support Your Local Comic Shop

Support Your Local Comic Shop is a podcast series where we talk with rad comic book retailers about selling comics in 2026. It's published exclusively on our Patreon but is unlocked and free for all. This week, we're chatting with Timmy Heague from Arsenal Comics and Games in California.

Comics retail is hard enough, but Timmy Heague is determined to make it even harder for himself. Not only does he own and operate both Arsenal Comics and Games locations (one in Ventura, California, the other in Newbury Park, California), but he’s also building quite a resume as a comic book writer. See Archie vs. Minor Threats (collaborating with Jordan Blum, Scott Koblish, and Patton Oswal) and the Bombshell backup in the upcoming Lost Fantasy #9 (collaborating with our pal Eamon Winkle). If that were not enough, and with Timmy Heague, it never is, he’s currently bringing an Action Comics #1 to auction.

How does Timmy Heague manage his multi-hyphantate lifestyle? We had to figure it out, and we were very grateful when he agreed to swing by our Love Nest for a lengthy chat. We discuss his comic book origin story, how he opened his first shop during his early twenties, and his take on the current state of the comic book industry. And, yup, we also dig into the details surrounding his involvement in this upcoming Action Comics #1 sale. This will be the first sale of this iconic comic to benefit the industry itself, with a portion of proceeds going to the Binc Foundation, the Hero Initiative, and ComicsPro. What does that look like exactly? We get into it.

On a personal note, we first met Timmy Heague through our mutual friendship with Jesse Tapia II. Talking with Heague felt a little bit like connecting with our friend, no longer with us. We like to think Jesse’s spirit continues on in all who share their love of comics, offering their current fave books, and celebrating creators who put themselves into their stories. So, yeah, we do a little bit of that in this month’s Support Your Local Comic Shop episode, too.

P.S. Arsenal Comics and Games has a thriving social media presence. Make sure you're following them on Instagram. And if you're ever in California, hit up their two locations:
