Irma Kniivila & Tri Vuong on 'Everyday Hero Machine Boy'

We chat with the creators about their profoundly heartfelt sci-fi comic and get misty in the process.

Welcome to our Creator Corner, our new reoccurring interview series, where we chat with the coolest and most thought-provoking creators in the comics industry. In this entry, we're conversing with Irma Kniivila and Tri Vuong about Everyday Hero Machine Boy. Listen to the unedited audio HERE.

What was the last comic to make you cry? For us, it was Everyday Hero Machine Boy by Irma Kniivila and Tri Vuong. And this wasn't a case where Brad cried a little, and Lisa choked up. Both of us, reading independently of the other, fell into deep sobbing at different points while reading.

Everyday Hero Machine Boy is a beautifully rich story about a Machine Boy who fell to Earth and found love upon his arrival. The story works wherever you fall in age - a true all-ages comic! That in of itself is a minor miracle and should be celebrated. Published as part of Skyboynd Comet's new line, Everyday Hero Machine Boy immediately embeds itself into your heart. Once in place, you won't shake it.

Kniivila and Vuong are deeply passionate creators, and it was gleefully gratifying to get them into a room for a conversation. Brad is more mushy than usual in this discussion, unabashedly professing his appreciation for what these creators gave him. Thankfully, Kniivila and Vuong graciously accepted his fannish ramblings and returned the favor by providing heartfelt responses to his inquiries.
